A holiday home for yourself or for rent
For occasional use, a holiday home of 40 to 80 m2 is enough. For the mountains we often suggest a log cabin, because it needs little maintenance when the house stands empty.
If you plan to rent out your holiday home, think about two or three smaller houses instead of one large one. More on the holiday rentals page.
Mountain holiday homes: snow and insulation
In a mountain holiday home the roof has to carry the weight of snow, and the walls, windows and doors have to cope with low temperatures. That is why steep roofs, the A-frame shape and thicker insulation make sense in the mountains.
If you will also use the holiday home in winter, tell us before the design. We choose the insulation, windows and doors according to how much the house will be heated.
How much does a holiday home cost?
The price depends on the size, the type of walls, the roof, and whether we build only the structure or a house ready to move into. The items are explained on the prefab house price and log cabin price pages.
